Before we discuss War Wizard, allow me a vignette. We took a trip to the Finger Lakes to visit with my brothers. Due to some tight schedules, we only got two days with them However, it’s more than the last few years combined and it seems like we will make more of an effort to visit one another. It’s a good way to honor our mother’s memory. Another appropriate honor was that I read the new Dragonlance novel, War Wizard. I’ve told the story more than once that my mother got me into fantasy novels when she bought me the first book of The Elven Nations Trilogy.
Immediately, I loved the book and learned of others; Chronicles, Legends, the collections of short stories. Like Stephen King’s “The Stand” (I know, there’s issues there, but I still enjoy the book overall), Weis and Hickman came back into my life periodically. The Second Generation, The War of Souls, Destina’s trilogy. Looking at the Wikipedia page, I missed a ton, too. Well, time to find those audiobooks and remedy that.
