It ended with fan service and a set up for some of our intrepid heroes. This one picks right up where the last one left off and, honestly, you gotta wonder how The Ghoul and Lucy are going to get out of it. Of course, they do, and the epsiode is off and running. We get more backstory, an introduction to House finally, and more with Norm&#8217;s group. Lucy also finally &#8220;fin&#8217;ds&#8221; her father and The Ghoul gets an update on his family. Let&#8217;s dig in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Follow the Dog<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pick up where we left off. Lucy and The Ghoul facing off against the Deathclaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then another. And another. Okie dokie. \u201cI defer to you about what to do in this situation.\u201d \u201cRun!\u201d \u201cHave anymore drugs? I need more drugs?\u201d \u201cDrugs, no I don\u2019t have any more drugs.\u201d \u201cWell, then, what weapon do you recommend?\u201d \u201cHave a rocker launcher in that bag.\u201d \u201cNo.\u201d All of this hiding behind a car. One of the Deathclaws climbs onto the car. Dogmeat runs and hides. The Ghoul shoots to create a diversion and they do run, hiding in the same place that Dogmeat hid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Title screen<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens in Vegas (Big Whoop)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td>Daylight and a drone shot over Vegas.<br>\u201cSo this is Vegas, huh?\u201d \u201cYep.\u201d \u201cAnd those surprisingly smelly monster lizard things. They haven\u2019t always been here.\u201d \u201cNope.\u201d \u201cOkay. I\u2019d ask why my father went into a den of giant monsters, but you\u2019d probably just tell me to shut the fudge up.\u201d The Ghoul sighs. He tells the story about a plan for a special vault for management. \u201cThat\u2019s where my wife is. My daughter, too.\u201d He\u2019s found a few special vaults for management sprinkled around. All empty. \u201cBut I never found one in Vegas.\u201d \u201cSo, if my dad\u2019s in there, so is your wife and daughter.\u201d \u201cYep, and they\u2019re surrounded by these fucking things.\u201d \u201cYou can\u2019t just waltz around a pack of Deathclaws.\u201d \u201cThey\u2019re called Deathclaws?\u201d Lucy tries to convince him that even though she\u2019s in an altered mental state, they should shoot them in the face. And they should do it fast because she\u2019s running out of drugs. He sends her to a place called Sonny\u2019s to get something that will clean out the drugs. Where\u2019s he going? \u201cTo get fucked up.\u201d I should say here that while walking, they passed a guy with a clapboard that said, \u201cBeat me up 4 caps.\u201d Lucy replies, \u201cNo, I\u2019m okay. Thank you.\u201d<br>The Ghoul walks into a bar. Nope this isn\u2019t the start of a joke. \u201cWhiskey.\u201d he orders. The keep pours a glass. \u201cThe bottle.\u201d He sighs and sips the whiskey. \u201cGuess you saw the Deathclaws. Big whoop. Just another change in management. NCR..Legion, etc. Robots. Don\u2019t matter to me. Just someone trying to tell me what to do. Just don\u2019t charge me taxes. I\u2019ll shoot their goddamn head off.\u201d \u201cStop&#8230;talking.\u201d The Ghoul says and the keep complies and leaves him to drink. The Ghoul catches a glimpse of himself in the mirror.<br>He looks genuinely sad<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stays in Vegas?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A flashback. \u201cVault-Tec Presents\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A newsreel about the government twiddling their thumbs with our communist adversaries across the pond, a group of entrepreneurs gathers to figure out the fate of the free world. Led by Robert House&#8230;what does he think of his chances of succeeding? \u201cWhere I\u2019m from, which is America, the house always wins.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hank meets them at the airport and offers to take their bags. He\u2019s already burdened as Cooper says. \u201cI\u2019m suddenly a very important person and a possible assassination target.\u201d Cooper lies and says he needs to call his agents. Checks in about the assassination of House. The take away, \u201cThe end justifies the means.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cooper: \u201cI tell you what. I\u2019ll stop the exchange. I\u2019ll get your cold fusion back. But I\u201dm not going to kill a man to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rags to Riches\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8DectA0LeKM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cooper and Barb riding in the car. There\u2019s striking workers outside of the casino. One bangs on the window. \u201cYou sold us out.\u201d They see a giant cardboard cut of him. While getting a picture with Cooper, they see the Congresswoman being removed from the premises and being thrown on the ground. Cooper helps her up. \u201cThat\u2019s fine. Fighting the good fight is just a seemingly endless series of humiliations.\u201d Barb calls him away. \u201cKeep at it\u201d He advises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They\u2019re in the Lucky 38. Glitz and glamour and douchebags. Barb needs to talk to some reps. \u201cCare to join?\u201d He declines and goes to get drinks. Nope, a lie again. He\u2019s following Hank. He finds him at the bar. House enters in slow motion. He approaches Cooper. It\u2019s not House. \u201cMr. House would like to see you.\u201d Bobby Apartment! Just read that the other day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Victor Howdy Pardner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coop Howdy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right this way. Cooper enters into Robert House\u2019s office. \u201cHello, I\u2019m Robert House. I was just eager to meet you. I know you came to Vegas to kill me. Did you not?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A New Mission<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Robert Alda - Luck Be A Lady\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZWBAIK6D2cI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s the Snake Oil Salesman looks like he\u2019s on his way to Vegas. He hops over a Deathclaw skull and gets attacked by a Rad Roach. Picks some flowers after killing the Rad Roach. \u201cLet\u2019s get Lucky, shall we?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHello, gorgeous. How I\u2019ve missed you. I\u2019ll admit you\u2019d be disappointed in how I acted while gone. But you can\u2019t blame a guy for filling the void, can you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFully Integrated Security Technotronic Officer active and reporting for duty.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat makes two of us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hank sneaks up on them. \u201cOh, a lookie loo? Go over there and watch like a civilized pervert. Now, where were we?\u201d Hank brains him and the next scene is him driving by cryo storage. They make a point to show Barb and Janey\u2019s cryo chambers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SOS wakes up with a device in his neck. \u201cHow would you like to forget everything you\u2019ve ever known? Everyone you\u2019ve ever known? Your language skills will remain intact. Every choice you\u2019ve made and everything you\u2019ve known will be erased.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYes\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hank fires it up. The guy seems to be enjoying himself. Hank fires it up. They cut away. No kablooey. Hank is pleasantly surprised. He chuckles softly. \u201cLet\u2019s begin.\u201d Presses a red button<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Shut the Fuck Up. I&#8217;m Trying to Be A Better Person<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With Norm\u2019s crew. Outside of a Vault Tec facility. Norm looks to be in awe. They enter the facility. It\u2019s in ruins. \u201cEw, it\u2019s so dirty in here.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s like walking on garbage.\u201d \u201cOne of these guys must be the janitor\u201d meaning a dead dude. Blook on the wall and metal in place. \u201cUh, guys?\u201d Norm. They seem unconcerned. \u201cIt\u2019s Janice. At her desk like always.\u201d \u201cShe always was a kiss ass.\u201d Chuckles, then a loud bang from behind the metal barrier. Rightly scares the hell out of them. \u201cI need to craft a weapon.\u201d \u201cWe should get out of here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is my squat.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s our squat.\u201d \u201cThey know what I mean.\u201d \u201cOh, look, more vault dwellers.\u201d \u201cWhat do you mean, more?\u201d Norm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCan I ask you a question? What\u2019s making all that noise?\u201d \u201cRoach farm.\u201d \u201cHow big are they?\u201d \u201cNot big enough for market yet. But they\u2019ll get there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Norm is talking to the shop keeper from Filly. She tells him that she met Lucy. Norm has no idea what she\u2019s talking about otherwise. \u201cYour sister is dead, honey.\u201d \u201cYou don\u2019t know that. You don\u2019t know my sister.\u201d \u201cI know the wasteland better than you do.\u201d \u201cI know plenty what it does to folks as soft as you are. I\u2019m going to tell you what I told her and I hope for your sake, you listen. Go home, Vaultie.\u201d \u201cCome on Barb. If you need supplies before you leave, take em. But leave my roach farm alone.\u201d So, you become a good samaritan all of a sudden?\u201d \u201cShut the fuck up. I\u2019m trying to be a better person. Good bye dipshits.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They leave<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Are You?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lucy finds Sonny\u2019s but she might not have enough caps for what she needs. Heads to the casino. Then down the alleyway and into an open door. Sneaks around. Find the addictol and steals it. Also grabs a power fist. Sonny comes back down the stairs. Lucy tries to sneak back out but sees a dead person in a barrel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat are you doing?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI came in the wrong door.\u201d She notices a picture. \u201cAre you Sonny?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe left town.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSo that\u2019s not him in the trash can?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNo he came in to rob the place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe\u2019s naked. Did he come in naked?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYeah. It\u2019s not that strange to rob a store naked. Lots of people do it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOkay, I\u201dm just going to leave. Dont\u2019 shoot me. Don\u2019t touch that gun. If you touch that gun I\u2019m going to have to maim you.\u201d He does and she does. She sighs and goes to help him. \u201cSir, I\u2019m sorry I.\u201d He\u2019s dead. \u201cOh gosh.\u201d Someone walks in. \u201cOh, who are you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cooper Howard Meet Robert House<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back int the bar with The Ghoul. He collects his things and goes up the stairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back to the flashback. House is regaling him about how he\u2019s interested in Cooper, but not of his films. He doesn\u2019t care for fiction. But their destinies are mathematically entwined. Cooper asks about Bobby Apartment. Hey, it\u2019s a living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMr Howard, I was there with you in Alaska.\u201d \u201cI doubt that very much.\u201d \u201cNot physically, of course. I\u2019m not insane. But I did license a piece of software that allowed me access to the power armor you wore. I saw. I saw it all. I saw the demon in the snow. And I think it\u2019s connected to the future of this great nation&#8230;and to your wife.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cooper comes down the stairs. \u201cLike yourself Mr Howard, I am an apex competitor. We are the best at what we do. What I do is I know things\u2026.I know who makes what\u2026.today I\u2019m acquiring cold fusion from Vault-Tec.\u201d \u201cFrom my wife.\u201d \u201cThat will allow me to live forever in a non living form that will allow me to protect Vegas from the coming nuclear war.\u201d \u201cStarted by my wife.\u201d He talks about how he uses stats to predict future events and it told him the end of the world. April 14 2065 at 5:17 am. Is that date of any interest to you? \u201cThat\u2019s my daughter\u2019s birthday.\u201d \u201cThat is vexingly curious, isn\u2019t it? More curious is that you weren\u2019t meant to come to Vegas. Your wife was meant to come alone. When you bought your ticket to Vegas, the end of the world jumped forward by a month.\u201d What are you a fortune teller? I\u2019m a mathematician, something else, and a casino owner. But I don\u2019t know how you fit in. I don\u2019t like unknown variables.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vault Tec will not drop the bombs. I think there\u2019s another player at the table. That stranger with you during the demon in the snow. But I believe in one maxim. \u201cThe house always wins.\u201d \u201cYes, but what if I\u2019m not the house. What if its someone else?\u201d \u201cWhat if you\u2019re just a fucking lunatic?\u201d House loses his shit and goes off on Howard, basically accusing him of being the one who brings the end of the world. Cooper drinks and it brings us back to the ghoul in a hotel room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">F&#8230;E&#8230;V?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back in the office building with Norm\u2019s crew. They\u2019re trying to get a radio working to contact \u201cthe investors\u201d. Norm sees Claudia crying and checks in on her. It\u2019s finally coming to her that everyone she knew is dead. She had a cat named Puppy. Funny, huh? Well, not right now, I guess. \u201cYou don\u2019t strike me as the kind of person who signed up for this. Did you know about the program?\u201d \u201cI just started a week ago. What they said sounded pretty nutty.\u201d \u201cSo you didn\u2019t know?\u201d \u201cNo, but there was this exec. Bud\u2019s boss. Barbara Howard.\u201d \u201cDo you know where her office is?\u201d Norm works at the computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019re not really Bud\u2019s successor are you?\u201d \u201cHow\u2019d you know?\u201d \u201cBecause you\u2019re not absolutely nuts.\u201d \u201cThank you.\u201d \u201cBut the rest of them are nuts. If they knew that Bud lied to them, who knows what they\u2019d do. Sorry that sounded dramatic, but I just watched the world end a week ago. I could use a drink. You want a drink?\u201d \u201cI\u2019ve ever actually had one.\u201d \u201cReally? I\u2019ll be right back.\u201d Norm searches for Future Enterprise Ventures. There\u2019s a related search. FEV (Forced Evolutionary Virus). The computer gets unplugged and one of the guys accuses Norm of lying. He gets the best of Norm and chokes him out with the power cord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I Thought We Were Friends<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lucy walks through the streets of Vegas. She takes a hit of the medicine and vomits all over the street. But, it seems to work. She finds The Ghoul. \u201cI think we can say I\u2019m officially done with dru\u2014\u201d \u201cWindow.\u201d She vomits again. On top of someone. \u201cWatch it!\u201d They shout. \u201cYou done?\u201d She sits down. \u201cThanks.\u201d \u201cLeast I can do. Considering.\u201d \u201cWho\u2019s that?\u201d \u201cI\u2019ll let him explain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s the Snake Oil Salesman. All cleaned up. \u201cHi. *sing song*. I was sent here by your father. Mr. McLean is quite impressed that you followed him this far but he\u2019s quite secure in an underground facility. There\u2019s no reaching him from here. Not without his explicit invitation.\u201d \u201cYou\u2019re going to lead us out of here and take me to my father.\u201d \u201cI\u2019m no able to do that. He\u2019s watching over this man\u2019s wife and child&#8230;he\u2019s willing to make a deal. One family\u2019s safety for another. I\u2019ll inform management that you made an agreeable decision. Good afternoon.\u201d SOS leaves. Lucy pulls the dart out, rushes him, and fallsto the ground. Ghoul sighs. \u201cTake a nap.\u201d pours a drink. \u201cWhen you wake up, you\u2019ll be home. Couldn\u2019t be helped. Family\u2019s a fucked up thing.\u201d Quick jump back to cooper in the elevator drinking. Then grabbing another and another. Making his way through the casino. A worker being led out. He gets handed another drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lucy stirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOh my God, Cooper Howard. Can I have a kiss. You have to ride the missile.\u201d Like a bucking bronco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lucy stands, rushes him, hits him with the power fist. He falls out of the window and gets impaled on a light post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI thought we were friends.\u201d She passed out again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cooper falls off the missile and lies in the inflatable. Barb finds him and takes him to the room. He\u2019s recovering from the hangover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe need to talk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*footsteps approach and open the door.
